When we Skyped with SoulPancake, they gave us ideas and tips for videos. The next step was to choose our topics and purpose. We could choose CYSD bookmobile, Whatcha Reading, Why Reading is Awesome, Book It Forward or a Reading Public Service Announcement. The next thing was planning our videos and making our props. We also had to practice our script. The next step was going up to the middle school to record our videos. Each group got a middle schooler and started recording on iMovie. The the middle schoolers helped us with iMovie. When we were done, Mrs. Hartman uploaded all of the videos to YouTube and put them on our website. We spent one afternoon watching all of the videos. Our group's video with the gamers was the opening video. By: Melanie, Dakoda, and Jade |

A Prowler Reporter from Central York High School came in to talk about Project Book Giving. She told us a little bit about the prowler paper. It's the High School paper. She interviewed some students. She talked about the different newspaper jobs. She told a little bit of her story and how she got to the newspaper. She watched our reading videos. She answered all of our questions too! When the paper with our article was printed, she brought in some of the copies of the Prowler Paper. That's what happened when the Prowler Reporter came in!
By: Dylan & Caitlynn After we emailed our Little Free Library parks survey out to all of the other Central York elementary schools, we had some classrooms who wanted to learn more about it. One of those classrooms was Mrs. Musone's third graders. They asked if we could Skype with them so that they could hear more about our project. We were happy to share! We talked about the LFL. We talked about how many books that we are going to put in the LFL. We skyped so they could learn more about our library. We told them all about our project and then answered questions. While we were talking, one student asked if we could put a comic book he had just created in our library to share it with the community and we said we would. His teacher sent it to us in the mail and it's waiting in our box of books to be shared out when we open the library. By: Manny & Mrs. Hartman Here is a video Mrs. Musone's class posted of our Skype session.
One day we got a box in the mail from the Little Free Library people. It was a surprise. We got pins, and a free book because we are doing a project about Little Free Library. The book is called The Little Free Library Book. It was autographed by Margret Aldrich, the author, and Todd Bol, the creator of the Little Free Library organization. We were excited to get the package! We felt really surprised.
By Alexis The news reporter came and interviewed some of the people in our class. The interview was about our Little Free Library. She was asking us “What’s your favorite part of the Little Free Library?” Also “what's your favorite book?” But there were other questions. We had to type the questions and answer we had to listen to everything.
I personally thought it was pretty fun listening and we got to skip class for a little. At the end she took a picture of us to put on the newspaper. We got to see our interviews in the newspaper! By Ellaina & Myla A few students from our class were invited to share about Project Book Giving with our School Board. We filled out applications to give to Mrs. Hartman if we were interested in sharing. We practiced our presentation at school. The real meeting took place after school in the evening.
At the School Board meeting, Dr. Snell and Mr. Grove shook our hands professionally. They are the superintendent and assistant superintendent. All of the people were sitting in a U shape, and the audience was in the back. In the beginning it was kind of boring because the one guy was talking about the schedule. Mrs. McFatridge talked. Then her students were talking about their NASA mission project. Then we talked about Project Book Giving. Then the School Board asked us questions and gave comments. They were really impressed by us. When we were all done they gave us a certificate and magnet. That was the School Board meeting. We thought it was awesome. At first we were nervous but then when it was over and we got home, we were all crazy from excitement! By: Ellaina & Myla We started planning for our website on paper. We also did brainstorming on paper. Then we copied the plan and brainstormed on the computer. Next we started to plan a little more. Next we thought of some ideas like how the website will have things about us and it will tell you about a Little Free Library. It will show you what they look like. It will also show you the Little Free Library website. There are also AWESOME book trailers. Also look at our Twitter and Facebook for our Little Free Library.
By: Jonathon & Cameron Mrs. Hartman let us Skype with Soul Pancake so we could get some tips on making a video. Can you believe we were lucky enough to Skype with Soul Pancake!? They told us a lot of information like how to edit and about how to get the perfect amount of lighting. As you can see, we got to Skype with Soul Pancake. We thought it was a cool experience and we definitely want to again.
